11. My interest in Learning English especially writing
I am interested in Learning English
because it has many advantages. Writing is one of English comprehension. What
makes me interested in writing is I don’t have to speak when I want to give my
opinion. I used to be ashamed person. I don’t like speaking in front of many
people. So, I think writing is good way to me when I’d like to share my
opinion.
In the other hand, I like writing in
English because I love writing in Indonesian too. I like write poems and
sometimes short stories but writing in English is still activities that I do
rarely. I don’t know why when I’m going to write caption in my social media, I
don’t have any idea about this. Nothing comes to my mind. People easily write
in long sentences but why I can’t. Why I like writing is because I like
reading. Many people say that anyone who loves writing must be loves reading
too. It goes same with the before reason. I like reading in Indonesian because
it is more easily to understand.
22. Opinion on doing project based
learning and record in a personal blog
In this semester we have many projects
in Writing Class. We have nine projects to do. It is simple things that can
make me improve my English ability especially in writing. Every project that we
do based on learning writing in English.
Our projects are interesting (but
sometimes it is too boring because it takes too much time to do it). Our first
project is chatting in formal and informal way. The second is writing a
postcard. Third is writing diary/journal. Fourth is grammar nazi. Fifth is
writing my passion. Sixth is writing vlog script. Then, seventh we make the
vlog. The next project is poster and the last is writing e-mail. All of the
projects must be posted in a personal blog.
From those projects, the most
complicated is doing vlog project. For people who know the materials are would
be interesting. It doesn’t work easily to me and most of my friends. We have to
prepare camera (we just doing use camera phone), record ourselves in a vlog
(bad thing for people who doesn’t like speaking), and video editing (which is not everyone can do it).
I have said that every project must be
posted in our personal blog. My blog is www.foodiechomchom.com
. It is interesting. It can make ourselves to be more productive. We can share
our ability, opinion, knowledge of something to everyone in a blog. It will be
useful.
33. Advantages by doing project
based learning (3 projects that I love)
Chatting in informal way
Chatting to people who are native or not
in English is interesting. I have done it since grade 9 in middle school. By
doing it, we can learn how they speak in English and compare to our skill how
it is going. We can know how slang word is used. The most interesting is we can
communicate people from overseas without go there and we can know their culture
by chatting. It is an easy way to improve our English ability and I have done
it since 4 years ago.
Writing diary/journal
Journal is commonly hand-writing but
nowadays many people write journals and post them in their blog. The advantage
is we can express our feeling in certain words. We can influence other people
by journal. People who read our journal can be opened their mind. This project
is useful. It is a media to share our life stories. If we write journal daily
and post them in personal blog, people will read it. There are too many stories
in journal. There are good and bad things. People who read the journal can copy
the good things and evaluate the bad things so they won’t go in a wrong way.
Poster
I love this project. I love drawing by
my hand and learn graphic design by myself. The benefit by doing this project
is we will learn graphic design because as a young generation we must know and
do technology. Poster is one of art work. People can know who you are by your
creation. It’s also a way to express you feeling.
4. Challenges doing project based learning (3 projects
that I love)
Chatting in informal way
The challenge is how to get people to
chat. When facebook was booming, I used it. Now, many people use instagram (me
too J). I looked for website which can be media to communicate with people
from many countries. It is www.interpals.com
. My friend told me this website at grade 11 in high school. So I have gone
with it for 2 years. The other challenges are sometimes we don’t like people
who are online by their profile (not profile picture), we have to get long
responses, we don’t get their word, and also sometimes we forget to reply their
text/chat because we get long response.
Writing diary/journal
Mood is the challenge to write journal.
We have many things to do in a day and there are a lot things happened. It
makes us tires or even bored and get bad mood. That’s complicated one.
Poster
Idea. It is the big problem I think.
When we don’t have any idea, our poster will be done badly. Another challenge
is the tool. The tool we are going to use is also the challenge. Beginner will
be confused what graphic design that they will do. There are many kinds of
graphic design such as Corel Draw (that I use), Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator,
InDesign, etc. After they decide what kind of graphic design, the next problem
is could they use the too? If they can’t use the tool, they have to learn it
first and it will be took long time to finish the project.
From all projects, the challenge is
grammar. Are we writes grammatically? Are people who read our written
understand at all? That’s the problem in project
based learning.
- feedback for Ms. Devi as a
facilitator on project based
learning
I think she has done her responsibility
as facilitator in the class and in the project. When Ms. Devi couldn’t come to
the class, she gives us projects that we can do in anywhere. When we ask about
the project in whatsapp, we get good response. She answers every question asked
by us. It helps us. She really cares about our language so she gives some
feedbacks in our project.
Writing is an English skill so she gives
more attention in the projects but technically Ms. Devi couldn’t give us too
much things. So, we have to learn by ourselves and many times it is confusing.
- Overall impression in
Writing Class and project based
learning
It was interesting. It was tiring but it
had many advantages that I could mention or not. It improved my writing and IT
skills. Project based learning made me actively post in my blog.
Will I continue blogging? I’m not sure.
May be I’ll write and post something related in my life. I’ll write when I have
nothing to do. I think it is fun. Anyway, I have posted some poems but it
written in Indonesia.
